HUMAN HERPES VIRUS 7 (HHV7) QUALITATIVE PCR Test Details

Short Description

The genome of the Human herpes virus 7 (HHV7) is very similar to that of HHV6. Both HHV7 and HHV6 appear to cause ubiquitous infections in early childhood, yet primary HHV7 infections are rarely recognized. HHV7 infection is associated with a number of other symptoms, including acute febrile respiratory disease, fever, rash, vomiting, diarrhea, low lymphocyte counts and febrile seizures though most often no symptoms are present at all.

Detail Description

HUMAN HERPES VIRUS 7 (HHV7) QUALITATIVE PCR Test Cost INR:5000 Symptoms Diagnosis

Human Herpes Virus 7 (HHV7) is a virus that can cause several health problems, including Roseola, a common childhood disease. It is a member of the herpes virus family and is related to the viruses that cause cold sores, genital herpes, and chickenpox. HHV7 can infect people of all ages, but it is most common in children under the age of two.

HHV7 can be diagnosed using a qualitative PCR test, which looks for the presence of the virus in a person's blood or other bodily fluids. This test is highly sensitive and specific, which means it can accurately detect even small amounts of the virus.

Symptoms of HHV7

Most people who are infected with HHV7 do not experience any symptoms. However, in some cases, the virus can cause Roseola, a common childhood disease that typically affects children between the ages of six months and two years. The symptoms of Roseola include:

  • High fever
  • Rash on the trunk and limbs
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Irritability
  • Loss of appetite
  • Runny nose

In rare cases, HHV7 infection can cause other health problems, including:

  • Encephalitis (inflammation of the brain)
  • Meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain and spinal cord)
  • Myelitis (inflammation of the spinal cord)
  • Seizures

If you or your child is experiencing any of these symptoms, it is important to see a healthcare provider for diagnosis and treatment.

HHV7 can be diagnosed using a qualitative PCR test, which looks for the presence of the virus in a person's blood or other bodily fluids. This test is highly sensitive and specific, which means it can accurately detect even small amounts of the virus. The test is usually performed in a laboratory, and results are typically available within a few days.

Cost of HHV7 Qualitative PCR Test

The cost of the HHV7 Qualitative PCR Test in India is typically around INR 5000. However, the cost may vary depending on the location and facility where the test is performed.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the cost of HUMAN HERPES VIRUS 7 (HHV7) QUALITATIVE PCR Test?

Cost of HUMAN HERPES VIRUS 7 (HHV7) QUALITATIVE PCR Test is 5000 Rs

  • What is HHV7?

HHV-7 infection is usually a benign and self-limited disease of childhood and rarely has complications though it may affect the central nervous system. It has been implicated in pityriasis rosea and, like HHV-6 it can also cause exanthem subitum.

  • Signs and symptoms

Both HHV-6B and HHV-7, as well as other viruses, can cause a skin condition in infants known as exanthema subitum, although HHV-7 causes the disease less frequently than HHV-6B. HHV-7 infection also leads to or is associated with a number of other symptoms, including acute febrile respiratory disease, fever, rash, vomiting, diarrhoea, low lymphocyte counts, febrile seizures though most often no symptoms present at all.

  • Epidemiology

HHV-7 infections occur at a later age than HHV-6 infections. About 18% of children are infected with HHV-7 by 1 year of age and 53% by 2 years. Most children are infected between ages 2 and 5 presumably from infected saliva of parents and siblings.  HHV-7 DNA was detected in PBMCs from 67%, and in cervical swabs from 3%, of pregnant women.

  • Pathogenesis

HHV-7 has a narrower tissue tropism than HHV-6. HHV-7 infects CD4+ T cells, epithelial cells in the salivary glands, and cells in the lungs and skin. HHV-7 is frequently shed in saliva at high levels throughout life in most adults and children.

  • Clinical Manifestations

Primary HHV-7 infection may be asymptomatic or associated with fever or febrile seizures. In a study of 30 children with HHV-7 viremia, the most common clinical presentation was seizures, which occurred at 12 to 63 months of age. HHV-7 viremia was present in 7% of children with febrile status epilepticus; 5% of patients had primary HHV-6B infection and 2% had virus reactivation.

  • Laboratory Diagnosis

Like HHV-6, the most common diagnostic test for HHV-7 in children is seroconversion based on the detection of antibodies by indirect immunofluorescence assay or ELISA. 52 Detection of HHV-7 in serum or plasma is much less common than for HHV-6.

  • What is the cost of HHV7?

    HHV7 costs 5000 Rs

  • How many days does it take for reports?

Reports will take 8-10 working days
